Does anybody know how to access the drain tube on the anchor locker of a Cutwater 28. I am convinced the hose is kinked about 2 inches below the bottom of the anchor locker. I am the second owner and noticed there is virtually no drain flow. I have utilized a plastic flexible snake and whether coming up from the outlet in the bow, or down fro the locker it comes to a hard stop in the same spot. I tried compressed air as well. I did not find any debris, but the best I can get is a trickle ....so small it would take the locker hours to drain. I believe it had to be kinked on assembly and the boat had so few hours the first owner never noticed. All help is appreciated.

Not sure about the Cutwater but on a Ranger R27 there is a panel in the stateroom, at the bow, that can be unscrewed to access the hose. If the Cutwater has such a panel check this out.

Mine was terribly clogged with chain rust and then, probably Chesapeake Bay mud on top when I got my boat. (used)
Wouldn't be good to have it clogged during the summer, or especially the winter. Kismet is correct about the R-27 location. The panel was pretty much vertical and secured by several screws. Then the hose was easy to access. If I was to do any major work up there, I would put in a bigger drain, top to bottom. In the meantime, I check it often, any time I wash down the boat. Someday, I'll run the washdown line all the way forward.

I was then able to clean up the chain locker and put in a couple of those raised rubber floor tiles to help future drainage and drying of the anchor rode. BTW: The chain was so messed up that I took it to a hot-dip galvanizer got it stripped and redipped. It was 50 feet long but had to throw about 15-20 ft away, it was so messed up.

I spent a little time looking around the bow but could not find a removable panel. May be missing something.

This is funny. I wish I had a good photo of my v-berth. I can't imagine that the Tug and the Cutwater are any different up there. Hopefully somebody from the factory will jump in with one.

I'm on my way out of town this AM so I can't go get a photo.
On my boat, if you go all the way forward in the v-berth and up high under the ceiling, there is a trapezoidal panel staring you right in the face. I'm guessing about 18 inches tall, 12 inches wide at the top and maybe 6 inches wide at the bottom. I'm trying to recall, but maybe 4 screws holding it in place. With the plastic buttons over the screw heads?

Sorry that is all I've got.

The Yachtbedding.com (advertiser on Tug Nuts) has some good photos.

Last year after running in a steep and sloppy head sea we got into a marina my wife noted the front part of the V berth seemed wet. I pulled off the above mentioned panel and the tube for the anchor drain was not even connected to the fitting behind the outside clamshell. I don't know if the boat came that way or the pounding we took made it come loose. I flush the anchor locker from time to time with fresh water just to make sure everything is still connected with the water exiting the boat. On an occasion we remove all the chain and rode from time to time and clean the anchor locker thoroughly. Sometimes we will put all the line in a big tub and let it soak in fresh water with some fabric softener. It seems to help make anchor line lay better in the anchor locker.

Try removing the cushions at the bow, in the v berth. They lift up, then out towards you. Once that cushion is off, I think you'll see how to access. I had this clogged issue on my C30, and this is how I got to it.

Heard from the guys at Cutwater. They provided directions on cutting a hole behind the headboard. I have a 2014 built in late 2013 ......they installed access panels only on the recent builds. Thanks for the responses.

Just discovered my anchor drain tube was not connected and there was no clamp present. That explains the bow thruster corrosion. This is my 3rd factory issue this month!

Hi Jeff58,

Could you post the Cutwater instructions so others with early 2014 Cutwaters can gain access to the drain hose?

Thanks.

My Cutwater 30 has a hole in the fiberglass for access, it is behind the headboard of the bed. The headboard slides up for removal on my model.

that's only on newer models Mark.

Jeff58 do you have a photo of the hole location you cut?

I have a couple of pics of C28 V-berth that I dowloaded from someone else's post. They removed the panel and mirror exposing the fiberglass anchor locker. I'm not sure how they removed them. Go to my photos and open "V berth" album. Hope this helps
