Looking to upgrade to a rocna vulcan 22lb. or 33 lb. Anchor. Question is will they fit and what is the best weight with out making it a big project I'm one who anchors often over night. It's the weight of the boat that seems to fit between the charts. Thank you Gerry

I would get the biggest one that will fit. The difference in cost is nothing compared to the peace of mind. We have a Rockna 15 (33lbs) on our R27.

I think your roller is larger than on my cutwater 28. that being said the design of the bow roller on the cutwater vs the tug reduces your size options as the shaft and its cord height has to fit.

the paper cutouts on the rocna website are useful. in the end however nothing beat testing with actual anchors. I bought 2 vulcans and 2 rocnas to test. ended up with the rocna and took the rest back to the store.
I'd pick the vulcan if you can get it to fit.

For whatever this is worth, I tried a Roxana 10 on our C28 and it didn't fit. Matt at Bellingham Yacht Sales tells me they have fitted a Rocna 15 on a C30 and that it fit fine. If you know Matt, it might be worth a call to him to make sure.

I changed to a MANSON Supreme Anchor 25 lb for my Cutwater 28 (after being dragged in the mud a couple of times in the Potomac with the stock anchor). Never regretted it. It is probably a bit of overkill for my 28 (rated for 25 to 35') but it has never let me down. Held great on various bottoms I have tried, and is easy to retrieve using the sliding slot attachment point.
Only issue is that it is rather large for my bow rollers. I installed a "Anchor Turner Swivel Straightener" at the anchor connection to let it orient correctly when retrieved (well worth doing), and also made and installed a larger hoop (just bent metal bar with two holes drilled) on the bow roller to accommodate its taller hight. Very happy with it.

There are 2 C28's on S dock at the Edmonds Marina that have Rocna 15's. I'd like to go that route as well a hope to talk with them about how they installed them and any needed modifications.

Just to follow up on the c30, I put a rocna vulcan #15 that is 33 lbs. On my winldess PRO 1000 and it looks good and functions perfectly. It's a statement that it's there but peace of mind when at anchor is important. I'll try to send a pic.
