The survey about length of RT ownership piqued my curiosity about total engine hours on our boats. How many hours has your engine been chugging along? I'll start:

Our original 2016 R-21EC with VP D1-30, Scout, was sold with 147 hours.

Our current 2012 R-27 Classic with Yanmar 4BY2-180, Amy Marie, has 498 hours.

Happy New Years Everyone!

Mark

In 1 year we have put 200 hours on Toujours. Hoping at least 300 next year.

Now at 2740hrs on my 2014 R21EC.

2015 R25SC around 450

Holy *%*# ! Do you let it idle in your slip when you're not using it?

I predict you win the prize in this little contest.

Larry

Larry, I'm with you! NEWF W/ Saltwater Joy gets my vote, at 2740 Hrs at a quart an hour equals about 685 gallons of diesel fuel. A 7 year old boat equals about 100 gallons per year. With a 18gallon tank that's about 6 or 7 fuel stops a year with a average of 15 gallons each. Eat your heart out fast boats!
Or your wallet! Bob

Ha ha. No idling in a slip for me. I trailer the boat and I use it strictly for fishing so lots of idling/trolling hours given that I only have to travel at cruise speed for 10-15min to troll for salmon and 30min to anchor for halibut. I'm always worried about the low rpm's for trolling because of all the stories that it is hard on a diesel but so far so good. I stay on top of the routine Maintenance so hopefully many more hours left in her.
