Ha ha. No idling in a slip for me. I trailer the boat and I use it strictly for fishing so lots of idling/trolling hours given that I only have to travel at cruise speed for 10-15min to troll for salmon and 30min to anchor for halibut. I'm always worried about the low rpm's for trolling because of all the stories that it is hard on a diesel but so far so good. I stay on top of the routine Maintenance so hopefully many more hours left in her.
Those worries depend on what engine you have. If you have a modern electronically controlled engine and burn ULS diesel fuel then idling isn't an issue. Back in the day it's true that idling clogged them all up. Not so any more.

157 hours on our 2021 R29s and loving it! Just finished a 547 mile trip from Santa Barbara to San Diego and back. Via Catalina and Channel Islands.

OOOPS. After reading through the thread again I noticed that I had a typo in my hours. At time of posting, I had 2470hrs and not 2740 hrs on the meter.

NorthernFocus:
It's the 2014 D1-30 Volvo Penta so if this falls into that category you mentioned then that's good news to hear. I bought it new and so far I have not noticed any drop in performance/power when I'm running at cruise or WOT. I've had the exhaust elbow off for inspection and cleaning twice and there were no signs of carbon build-up other than a light coating of soot so it seems that the low idling has not had much effect on how it burns the fuel.

TOUCAN, our 2017 R-27 with Volvo-Penta D3 engine, has about 1200 hours. Not looking forward to the 1400 hour camshaft drive belt change. The engine currently squeals above about 1500 RPM. Currently trying to diagnose the cause.

156hrs on our 2021 R29s with the Volvo D4 loving it!

1st season: 85 hours on engine. easily 3-5x that on the boat away from home port. Keep it on a mooring, been in a slip once.

2013 Yanmar R29 Classic. 1240 hrs. Runs better than new.

2012 C26 Yanmar 4BY2-180: bought late last fall with 506 hours on it, put +229 hours since for total 735.
No complaints with Yanmar, runs perfectly.

Update: 1530 hours now on our 2014 R27 Volvo D3-200.

My first tug, a new 2009 21-EC, had 600 hours on it when in June 2020 I traded it in on a 2017 R-29S.

That boat had about 310 hours on it. It now has about 500 hours on it because I've used it lots in the 15 months I have had it. Plan to use it lots more in the years ahead...

2007 RT 25C 110hp Yanmar 3rd owner 1400 hours averaging about 100 hours a year

Interesting to see the different numbers and stories. Co-owned w/JSoup 2013 R31-CB D4-300 just over 330 hours. Purchased in Oct '19 with just over 100 hours so working to catch up a bit as well as a healthy amount of freeway miles on JSoup's truck's hours...

We have had our 2014 RT31CB for 5 years. Came with 70 hours, added 520. Almost none last year and early this due to covid.

2875 hours on Roam. She is a 2008 R-25 Classic with the original 110 HP Yanmar Diesel. The engine still makes full power and rated RPM without significant smoke or unusual noise.

Also, about 40,000 miles trailering; twice from Michigan to the west coast, ten times to Florida and considerable travel around the Great Lakes.

That's what these boats are meant for; a blend between livability and trailerability.

260 hours on my 2014 Cutwater C-28 (D-4). Obviously not using it as planned. Will try to do better next year.

2013 C26 D3 200 Hp . We bought boat 14 months ago with 67 hrs on engine and 18 on generator. We now have 375 on engine and 162 on generator. I was a little concerned about low hours but the boat was stored in an insulated metal building and was practically new. Its been a great boat thus far.

Hello! We have about 410 hours on our R31-CB ("Robert Edmun") here in Seal Beach, California.

Cheers!

CORRECTION: 681 hours not 481 on my 2012 R27.

I don't think I've played this game yet......and if I have, it was a few libations back, and this will serve as my official update. 2016 C26 D3 220 just clocked 750hrs. Full Service and a new water pump due to seal failure.
