Another Quick Survey - How many hours on your RT?

The survey about length of RT ownership piqued my curiosity about total engine hours on our boats. How many hours has your engine been chugging along? I'll start:

Our original 2016 R-21EC with VP D1-30, Scout, was sold with 147 hours.

Our current 2012 R-27 Classic with Yanmar 4BY2-180, Amy Marie, has 498 hours.

My 2014 R21ec has 48.5 hours on the replaced VP.

We are new owners (2nd) of an R29 Classic - build-year of 2010, but went in to service in 2011. There are 495 hours on the Yanmar 6BY2-260.

2013 RT21ec purchased in 2016 with approx 40 hours on the engine. Currently, 425 hours and planning a January trip on the Columbia River from Portland to Astoria.

Nigel Caldel’s book says that these kinds of diesels should be good for a million hours with regular planned maintenance. No mention about disuse though that I could find in the book.

I've always felt the same way. I had an old tractor from the late 60's with a 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel engine that I watched the Hobbs meter click from 9999 to 0000 hours before I sold it several years ago. I'm guessing it's still running today.

Give them clean fuel and fresh oil and they will run forever.

Now THAT is what I call getting value for money! That's especially true if you think that the biggest expense in the first couple of years of owning a boat is depreciation and you take that BIG number and divide it by the number of hours run.
