Is it possible to retrofit the OEM trim tab control with one that has the indicator? The reason being is that we dry stack our C-26 and we were warned that if the trim tabs are down, they could be damaged by the forks on the forklift when the boat is being hauled out to be returned to its designated slot in the dry stack. (Also posted on the Ranger Factory forum).

You can do this. You will need to change the top cover that bolts onto the piston and add a rod to measure. You will need to run these wires through the hull under the top mount of the tab.

If you plan to interface with the NMEA 2000 network you need to buy a Garmin Adapter. If you want to leverage one of Bennett's auto re tractors or indicators you would buy them instead of the Garmin adapter. Job will need to be done out of the water and is relatively easy.

Thank you for the feedback. This gives me a good starting point!

Good morning,
We have a Cutwater 26, M/V Elan, when we purchased the boat used we installed the Bennette model that has led lights that let you know where each tab is while you are operating the boat rather than guessing.
That being said our boat from the factory automatically retracts the tabs as soon as the ignition is turned off.
Hope this infomation helps with your conserns.
