Bottom Paint

I recently bought a 2 year old R27OB and joined this group.

Firstly thank you for the tug nuts hat! That was a pleasant surprise.

As a new owner I’m probably going to have a lot of questions. Let’s start with this one.

When I bought the boat it had bottom paint. I suspect that the paint was applied by the previous owner and did not come from the factory that way. Correct?

The paint looked good when I bought it but has worn off especially around the bow after the sea trial. The sea trial was less than two hours. I can’t imagine that’s normal. I suspect it was not applied correctly. I’ve attached before and after pictures.

Is this something that needs to be addressed? I will be operating the boat in the fresh water of the Great Lakes.

You are correct — we don’t apply bottom paint. As for the paint peeling, I would recommend finding out who applied the bottom paint last and having them address it, especially if the boat is going to be in saltwater. It looks like someone pressured washed it off.
