As a new owner of a C-28 I would like to shorten the bow rail and remove the bowsprit and ladder
so I can fit into my slip. Not sure if its just bolted to the fwd deck along with the fwd cleats.

Has anyone done this ? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Jim

Have not done however on our R29S there are thru deck blots and nuts. I had my head inside the bow lockers yesterday and saw and could reach 2 on each side of the bow, for the rail posts. I would guess yours may be somewhat the same. If someone does not have the answer for your C28 I'd call customer service at Cutwater for a clear answer.

Thanks Jim. I just hope its not installed with epoxy. The boat is currently moored in Bellingham Wa and we are in
Arizona till late April.

Jim,
This has been done before. We were on the 2016 Cutwater Cruise and a 28 had the same need as you and modified their boat. I have a photo of the boat but I don’t know how to attach a photo. If someone can let me know how, I will attach it. The owner is in the photo and Matt Ouilette at Bellingham Yachets will probably know who it is. It is in the group of stern tied Cutwaters with the yellow kayak on top. There is a aerial photo of this group in some of the Cutwater ads.
Let me know if I can help. I also have the list of everyone that was on the trip.
