C28 Stern Thruster Access?

I searched all threads and did not find this. I apologize if this is topic covered somewhere else.

I have a 2013 C28. The stern thruster motor runs, but no thrust. My assumption, and it seems to have been confirmed by many posts here, is that the shear pin has failed (which I guess it is supposed to do).

In any event, I can see the stern thruster through the access port in the storage box below the stern flip seat, but there is no way it can be worked on through there. There is no access through the engine or battery bays due to other blocking items.

How can I access the stern thruster?

Hello Mark,

You will need to remove the rear storage locker on the C28 to access the stern thruster. To do this you will need to remove the rear flip seat that sits over this. Remove the cup holder on each side of the seat to access the bolts that hold the flip seat onto the brackets. Once you get the flip seat removed you can gain access to all the screws that secure the storage locker in place which will provide you with plenty of access.

My boat has been hauled for winter storage and I now have very easy access to the thurster from the outside.
Is it possible to access the shear pin by removing the stern mounted assembly?

If I recall correctly you need to remove the motor to access the screws for the thruster tunnel. More work to reseal them afterwards too.
