I am trying to dry out the locker under the cockpit sink (2019 C28). I’ve connected 3/8 tubing to the drain holes but cannot figure out where to route the tubing to get to the bilge. Is there a chase back there? Another option, with the right fitting, would be to splice it into the sink drain. Is there a T fitting for the drain hose that would accept the 3/8 tubing? That locker has a nice water-tight door seal, not sure why the cup holders were just to drain into the locker!?!

Hey there condond,

Unfortunately we haven't built these boats in about a year, so I can't tell you which way to route a drain hose, but you can take a look forward in the starboard lazarette. You should be able to see a gap that you can run the hose through to get it down into the bilge. Even if it's not directly going into the bilge, as long as it leads to the outboard gap of one of the lazarette sole panels, that will allow it to travel into the bilge. The amount that you will get through that cup holder is very small and will drain easily into the bilge that way. As for the "T", that would be the easiest and nicest way to run it. There should be Ts that can fit that, but you would have to look for yourself. Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Ralf

I have a 2021 C28 and I ran the hose to the back and had enough room to let it drain in the cockpit. It should have been done from the factory IMHO.

I am happy to post that I was able to run a 3/8 tube down to the bilge from the bottom of the two cockpit sink cupholders. I attached a short piece of tubing to the drain of the first cupholder, used a 3/8 "T" to connect to the second cupholder drain and then fished an electrician's tape UP from the bilge where the fuel line (and fuel vent hose) come down and was able to grab the end of the fish tape in the access hole under the fuel filler (where the Scotty downrigger wires dead end on my boat which although wired for the downriggers, for some reason were not installed). Then I was able to pull a 3/8 tube from the bilge up to that access hole attached to the fish tape with electrical tape, and feed it forward into the storage under the sink and attach it to the "T" feeding from the cup holder drain. No more rain water under the sink!

I made a a clear lexan cove for my cup holder. It keeps the water out and I can still see the blue light in the cup holder. I just put it on when not using the boat or if calling for rain. I also made a ski pole cover with o ring seal and that keeps rain water out of the bilge.
