Fluid Motion Model
R-21 EC
Hello Tugnuts and Cutwater Factory folks!

We recently purchased a C-28. We’re excited to get the boat! We signed the deal at the Jan 2018 Boat Show. Coincidentally, Fluid Motion had recently entered into an agreement with a dealer to become the new San Francisco Bay are dealer. This was very good news, as we believe having a local dealer would provide many benefits, generally in terms of helping deal with any issues we encounter in the early stages, along with repairs and warranty maintenance.

So the dealer asked if we wanted Propspeed applied to the prop and rudder. Antone have experience with this stuff?

Many thanks to the community and the factory for your insights!

The answers for Prop Speed to be applied will vary much like most accessaries that are optional. We boat in both fresh water and salt water, from the Great Lakes, to Florida and the PNW and we have never had prop speed. From what I've read and heard it does work however….and this is a big one….product application is very sensitive to proper temperature and humidity conditions when it is applied. If not done under the most ideal conditions I've heard of problems with the product pealing or flaking away. I would say we have not had prop speed because of what I feel is excessive expense coupled with our boats are trailerable and therefore easier to clean the underwater metals when out of the water, plus potential application conditions not adhered too. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks trailertrawler. I did some more digging in the forums and a bit of googling, found out more info. Yes, it generally gets good reviews, but it's fairly involved to apply. And not cheap - at least what they were quoting us here, so we opted to pass.

I skipped it. went with barnacle barrier paint instead on the trim tabs and prop.

too expensive for me. plus when the diver is out changing zincs I have them give the prop a scrub.

I keep my boat in saltwater all year round.
