Diesel Fueling Vent Frustrations - Pun Intended

There are two fuel tanks on the R43, the aft one spits out quite a bit from the vent but the forward tank dribbles not at all. I think the forward tank has a longer distance from the tank to the vent and that might be the reason. Anyway, as Mastercraft mentioned, using a vent minder is what I do also. The suction cups stick better if you wet them first and also rub the salt off the hull before attaching.

In addition, I use this device that is designed to capture overflow, but in fact we never get to that point. The real advantage of this is that it amplifies the sound of the fluid in the pipe and I find it much easier to detect the change in pitch when I get to the full tank level.

No spill probably is about 20 oz. It is side fill so probably holds 10 oz. That's plenty. Over flow is much less than you think. 8 oz spill is going to look like half a gallon.

I don't know the amount exactly but if I fill fast (when I get the most venting) it ends up about halfway between the bottom of the Vent minder container and the side gasket, so plenty of room left. If the pump is set on slow fill then maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of fuel in the bottom.

I do get a very distinctive gurgle when the tank is nearly full. The Cleanway overflow device (that inserts into the fill port) actually amplifies the sound so it's much easier to detect when near the top compared to not using the device.
