The "L" shaped latch has come unglued on the entry door on my 2016 Cutwater 28. I noticed yesterday when I closed the door the "latch" was stuck in the "catch". The original glue on the door looks black to me, can you tell me what adhesive the factory used ?
Thank you

Mine has come unglued twice but now seems to be holding on my 2016 CW 28. I used Gorilla super glue. I believe the factory uses super glue as well. Make sure you clean the surface on the glass well and be gentle when opening the door and latching it. I think it is a weak design.

Anyone else had issues with this?

Thank you Kurt, I appreciate the info!

My latch also came off on my 26' Cutwater after a few months. I just went to Home Depot and got some high strength adhesive specifically for attaching glass to metal - has been fine ever since.

Can you tell us the name or brand you bought? Mine just came off again....

My door latch on my CW 28 came off when I was at Bellingham Yacht Sales last May having some warranty work done on my boat. The person from Bellingham Yacht Sales who repaired the latch mentioned that there have been problems with the latch and they were trying a new adhesive recommended by Cutwater to attach the latch. Don't know what it was. Unfortunately my door latch broke again a couple of weeks ago. I may go to Home Depot and check out the adhesives mentioned. I agree that you have to be gentle about opening/closing the door. I would hope that someone from Cutwater would chime in on this issue.

We just had the same issue today on our 29CB. Time to get some gorilla glue...

I would suggest using a black urethane ( 4200 or 5200), use it sparingly, That the latch on and let it sit for 24 hours to dry. I have been doing this for in the field repairs and have had great success.

Hi Ronnie, would this be your rec for my C30 CB latch that is glued to the glass door? This is the 2nd time it has failed, the first time BYS fixed based on factory rec.

Cheers
Terry

I had the same problem with my R 23 within the first month of delivery last year. This was the reply from Andrew. Another owner in my area used Gorilla glue and it came unglued not long after his fix. Good luck.

Hey there John,

We certainly recognize that there is an issue with these glued on pieces sticking to the glass and are changing procedure in house. What I have done for ones that have come loose was use a black 5200 fast cure and sand the plastic block the catch is hooked to so I get a good bond. Clean the glass where it sticks really well. Tape it in place and let cure 24 hours. Seems to hold really well for the ones I have done locally. We are happy to cover it under warranty through Peter if you want to get in touch with him to have it fixed.

Thanks John,
