Are there any Tugnuts out there that have an Electric Anchor Winch installed on their R-21EC bow? What are a few reputable Marine winch manufacturers to look into? For a retired couple, a new small "Electric Anchor Winch" might be a good help during stop and go fishing trips? I'm just trying to get some practical info, good or bad, before a final decision is made. Good idea? .. Bill+TheLadyJane

I'd think so. If you're anchoring and moving several times a day it would sure beat all that hand hauling. I don't have one on my '21 yet but it's on the list.

The Lewmar "700" series of windlesses takes only 30 amps, has no relay, and can run on "normal" power. It is more than enough for your boat - use 1/4" HT chain - stacks fine, is light enough, and strong. I've used this on 2 previous boats and am converting my R-25 since the setup is lighter and very strong.

Hello Bill, REO and others,

Check this (viewtopic.php?t=6325) thread from June 2015. Eric (Pearl) has done a NICE install of an anchor windlass complete with foot switches.
