The Fusion radio on my 2014 Cutwater 28 only powers up and operates when I am on shore power.
Is this normal?
If not any suggestions on getting it to operate while underway would be appreciated.
Thanks

It is a 12 volt radio so it should not make a difference .. Check you have all your 12 volt mains on

Our Clarion CMD-6 radio has power to it at all times. Even when house, engine and thruster rotary switches are off. I'm fairly sure the stereo wiring bypasses the main switches and breakers and (with several fuses) comes directly from the house batteries.
Something is not right if you are only getting stereo power only on shore power.

I would try a reset on it by holding the power button down for ten seconds. I would also verify battery voltage when you are off of shore power as it might have to do with a low voltage situation.

Thank you,

Thanks Andrew,....will try to reset with the Power button. Did try the little reset button when you flip open the cover (have to use a ball point pen). Don't think I have a low voltage situation since I have not noticed any other malfunctions, but will take my volt meter with me. What voltage would be optimum with shore power off? 13.7 or so?
Thanks,
Jeff

Success.
After some study, found that the connector on the radio had a red power, yellow power, black ground and half a dozen other wires. When on shore power with battery charger operational and house batteries on the red and yellow, both had 12+ volts. With shore power off only the red had 12+ volts and yellow was 0. Talked with Fusion technical support and after determining that there was no realistic way to trace the yellow I ask if it was acceptable to jumper the red and yellow together? They agreed it was not an issue, and so know we have Stereo when we are on battery or shore.
