I swapped out my Fusion radio with the UD-755 from the UD-750 (the UD-750 failed - fortunately under warranty). However I'm having some challenges with the Sirius portion. I can hear the current Sirius channel through AUX1 but no longer have controls there to change the channel. I can select Sirius as the source which does have channel changing capability, but when I change the channel it'll revert back to the same channel shortly after. Fortunately it's stuck on a channel I do like but would certainly like a change lol. What's the proper way of setting up Fusion/Sirius on the chartplotter?

We installed Sirius XM on our Fusion UD755.

We first installed a Garmin GXM 54 antenna for weather. This integrates with the Garmin 8612 chartplotter. There is an auxiliary connection that goes to the Fusion radio to pass the satellite signal to the radio. For the radio to function like this, it needs to be set for "Aux" and not "XM Radio". Then I could only change the XM channels via the Garmin. You can not change XM channels on the Fusion when it's using the Aux port to receive a signal. This also requires the Garmin be on for the radio to stream XM radio. Not ideal while at anchor as the power consumption is around 40 watts total in this configuration.

We have since purchased the XM Radio antenna (like, $50) and directly connected the XM Radio antenna to the Fusion 755. I put the XM antenna on the dash, inside the cabin. We moved our XM radio subscription from the GXM 54 Garmin antenna over to the new XM Radio antenna that connects directly to the Fusion 755. On the radio, we now select "XM Radio" and not "Aux". The Fusion gets the satellite signal directly off the XM antenna. We can now change XM stations using the Garmin chartplotter, or we can shut off the chartplotter completely and use just the Fusion radio (or the Fusion App on our phones) to select channels. Listening to XM radio directly off the Fusion 755 like this pulls about 7 watts.

This seems like a great approach. Thanks for sharing. We are waiting for our boat and are spending the time to "fine tune" the desired future state. I am assuming that the Fusion 755 is still the radio of choice for new boats.

In reading the Fusion 755 manual, there is talk about the "SiriusXM Connect Tuner". And, on Page 7 it states: "A SiriusXM Vehicle Tuner" is required. Is that an additional device that you perhaps already had? Built-in perhaps? This may be just language taken from SiriusXM and simply included by Fusion in their manual. At least I hope that it is and that the tuner is built-in.

Also, do I understand correctly that by moving your subscription to the Fusion you lost the weather part? I heard reservations expressed by some about XM Weather in the PNW, so that may not be a big loss and thus a worthwhile tradeoff. (Loss of XM Weather for lower power consumption).

The GXM54 antenna requires an XM weather subscription to function, and connects directly to the Garmin chart plotter. It also has the ability to take an XM Music subscription, which is passes to the radio via the Auxiliary input port.

Alternatively, you can just add an XM music antenna to the radio, via it's XM radio plug/connector. This requires an XM music subscription and allows the Fusion radio to work with XM music. I had to buy the XM antenna kit as the boat didn't come with an XM antenna.

I have a XM Weather subscription on the GXM54 attached to my Garmin chart plotter.
I have an XM music subscription on the Fusion 755 radio using an XM music antenna (slim antenna, installed in the cabin).

I'm in the process of installing Internet for the boat. I've got a LTE/WIFI Mobility 42G antenna to install up on the mast (once the outside temp gets up above 45 degrees, as I don't want to do the work in the near freezing temp's we are having). That work requires me drilling a hole in the roof the boat to route the antenna cables inside at the base of the mast. So, I bought the SRA-50 Galaxy SiriusXM® Satellite Antenna. This will be installed high up on the mast, and will connect directly to the Fusion radio. I figure, if I'm up there tearing my mast apart for LTE/WIFI, running one more cable for XM Music, to get it high up on the mast can't be that much more work.

Note: The GXM54 antenna is for weather and won't plug directly into a radio. The little 'box' it has that allows pass through XM music to a radio still must be ran through the chart plotter, for channel selection, etc...

Thanks. Good stuff!
