Also, do I understand correctly that by moving your subscription to the Fusion you lost the weather part? I heard reservations expressed by some about XM Weather in the PNW, so that may not be a big loss and thus a worthwhile tradeoff. (Loss of XM Weather for lower power consumption).
The GXM54 antenna requires an XM weather subscription to function, and connects directly to the Garmin chart plotter. It also has the ability to take an XM Music subscription, which is passes to the radio via the Auxiliary input port.
Alternatively, you can just add an XM music antenna to the radio, via it's XM radio plug/connector. This requires an XM music subscription and allows the Fusion radio to work with XM music. I had to buy the XM antenna kit as the boat didn't come with an XM antenna.
I have a XM Weather subscription on the GXM54 attached to my Garmin chart plotter.
I have an XM music subscription on the Fusion 755 radio using an XM music antenna (slim antenna, installed in the cabin).
I'm in the process of installing Internet for the boat. I've got a LTE/WIFI Mobility 42G antenna to install up on the mast (once the outside temp gets up above 45 degrees, as I don't want to do the work in the near freezing temp's we are having). That work requires me drilling a hole in the roof the boat to route the antenna cables inside at the base of the mast. So, I bought the SRA-50 Galaxy SiriusXM[emoji2400] Satellite Antenna. This will be installed high up on the mast, and will connect directly to the Fusion radio. I figure, if I'm up there tearing my mast apart for LTE/WIFI, running one more cable for XM Music, to get it high up on the mast can't be that much more work.
Note: The GXM54 antenna is for weather and won't plug directly into a radio. The little 'box' it has that allows pass through XM music to a radio still must be ran through the chart plotter, for channel selection, etc...
