My galley faucet has lost significant pressure. I had this issue in the past and the easy fix was to clean out the small screen at the base connector at the handle. I have also cleaned the aerator. This time that does not seem to help. Pressure from the hose is fine when I run the water while disconnected and the head faucet is fine, so I would say the issue is with the faucet head. When using the main stream it is weak. Flip it to spray and it just flows out both center and spray areas without a spray. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Sounds like some kind of build up inside the faucet. You could try soaking it in vinegar... can't hurt. If it is just hard water deposits, the vinegar will help; if it is some other type of deposits (and you can't back flush it) you may have to replace the sprayer head.

Mike:

I've had this happen as well and cleaned out the faucet head and it did not help. Received a new faucet head and still there was no fix. Finally I cleared out the galley under sink cabinet, got out a flash light and a mirror to see what else was under the sink. Connected to the underside of the sink water line, I found, is a set screw that when you release it you can then pull off the water line. Inside that water line you'll find another filter screen that when cleaned out will return your water pressure, at least it did for me. Buy me a plane ticket down to Florida so I can get out of all this cold (6 degrees) weather and I'll fix it for you or you can call me with any questions. Hope this helps for you and or anyone else reading this post.

Jim,
I will give your fix a shot. I just compared the flow from the galley line without the faucet head connected with the head line not connected and it did seem to be a considerable difference in pressure so it could be as suggested. I will check it out and report back. In lieu of a plane ticket I will send pictures!

So Jim... what kind of crud was stuck/deposited in that filter you found caused the pressure issue ?

The crud seemed to be a deposit of calcium particles as far as I could tell. It was not shavings of plastic, wood or fiberglass from the water tank. Rich's idea of using a filter when filling the water tank sounds like a good solution once the line has been cleaned out.

Jim and Lisa, still in Cherryland and it is 6 degrees.
Yikes... Boy, I'm glad I'm living in the sunny South.

Hellooooo Mike?
Are you there?
Are you stuck under the sink?
If so, knock three times on floor so we will know

Oh, there you are.
Well, I'm purging water lines and getting ready to flush with RV antifreeze. I opened the drain on the hot water tank and it is draining the last bits. I'm afraid to walk past the discharge to go up the ladder until 'after' the sump pump decides to run.

It got me once before. 😱

Good news, Jim was spot on. What I found was a bunch of crud that seemed like calcium buildup. However this was not a strainer, but a backflow preventer, so it was a matter of picking the crud out and swishing it around in a cup of water to get any loose remnants out. Another observation is there also seems to be a backflow preventer in the faucet head as well. I wonder why they have so many backflow preventers in the galley sink while the head sink seems to have none. Oh well, problem solved and this confirms the valuable asset of having this forum. I may be replacing my impeller in Palm Island, that should be a learning lesson for all of us R-27 owners! Hopefully I don’t become a permanent resident there.

Hmmmm -- is this issue unique to the R27 I wonder? My R25 hasn't exhibited this issue after some 3-1/2 years of use. Also, none of these posts reporting this issue are by R25 owners!

I would think this is more related to the location where water was put on (minerals and/or sediment) as opposed to a particular boat model. We have had this occur in RVs, as well; now, we filter all water going in.

I am having this same problem on my 2009 R25. I was thinking it must be something with the flex hose. I'll pull it off and take a look. Thnanks for the advice.

I think the issue is mitigated by having a. Back flow preventer at the beginning of the flex hose, then a screen at the faucet head connection and then another back flow connector. A bit overkill, but there ain't nothing getting into that spray head.

Yea -- I would agree with this. Every area has different water quality, hardness, softness etc. In the PNW area we have the softest water in the country... at least so I'm told! 🙂

So far I've seen no issue like reported here on our R25 since we purchased it in late 2009... and I simply fill the fresh water tank using the marina dockside water supply. We use the fresh water for the sinks, shower and our electric toilet which replaced the stock pump-action one. We use bottle water for personal consumption.

I cannot for the life of me find any "set screw" to facilitate removing the flex hose. I can see the two screws which prevent the faucet assembly from moving, but nothing else. I have a 2013 R27 and sure would appreciate some experienced insight.

Thanks ahead of time.

Follow the flex hose towards the faucet. There is a connection to a solid tube. You will notice that at that connection the flex can just swivel somewhat. That is where the small Phillips screw is located. Try looking up there with a light and a mirror. You need to only loosen the screw slightly so it slips off the connection. It is an o- ring seal.
