Hoping someone can help.
Having an issue with auto pilot after winter nap.
Reactor 40 and 8612 displays.
When I attempt to engage auto pilot I get "speed source alert" and it automatically engages heading hold.
Heading hold works and I can steer by using the increment buttons.
Have checked connections and ran wizard but that didn't work.
Have also ensured GPS as speed source in unit.
Any ideas?

I would recommend checking the satellites in view/use on the MFD, if the fix is poor then you can get the speed source fault. This could also arise from nmea2000 network issues. Do you have an external GPS antenna, or only the internal from the MFD?

The reactor pilot will operate without a speed source just fine (for most vessels) just with the minimum thresholds for rudder gain/counter rudder. Like a displacement hull configuration it will not know to switch into a different gain setting when on plane if it does not have a reference for how fast you are going.

Similar problem on my R29. Never did figure out why the error but switched speed source to rpm. All works as it did before.

Full o fish -No external antennae. And have checked all connections.
American Flyer - Interesting info and I will try that next time at boat.
Thank you both
