The Cutwater website does not list a generator as an option. Will the factory install one on an outboard C24 so that air conditioning can be used while not at dock? Same question for C26.

I bought my C28 3 months ago and I made the same questions to the dealer.

C24 no generator

C26 yes. You can have and run it while navigating or standing.

Depending on the amperage draw required for the 24 air conditioner you may be able to carry and use a Honda 2000. However I would definitely try it out and confirm that it will run the air conditioner sometimes the electronic controls don't like the power if it is not clean enough and the unit will shut down.

Thanks for the replies guys! I was hoping that the C24 with the outboard Yamaha 300 might have enough extra space in the redundant engine bay to install a generator.

As it sits today we are not offering a generator option. Why wouldn't you just use a portable gas generator and plug it into the shore power connection in the back? Since the boat is gas powered already, it is ignition protected but you shouldn't leave it in any compartments as the outboard doesn't use bilge fans.

Thank you,

Sounds like a good idea. So the shore power AC offered by Cutwater will run off a mere 2000 watts?

it will run your shore power, but just because it will run it it does not mean you can run everything. As I said in my earlier post you may not be able to run the a/c depending on draw, especially initial surge, and if the unit does not like the lack cleanliness of the power being supplied it my shut down.

Understood! I just had not imagined that any AC would run at all on 2000 watts, heck a hair dryer takes 1500!

Looks like Honda also makes a 3000 watt generator too, but it does weigh 130 pounds. I think that's probably the one to get.

I will also add that the 3000 or 3200 watt Honda generators are not, move around the boat friendly. Yamaha has a 2400 w about the same weight as the Honda 2000 and is also compact.

Are you sure the Honda generator is 130 lbs?

When I look at the Honda EU3000i (3000 watts/2600 rated watts) on-line, it shows a weight on 78 lbs.

I know that for some RVers, this is still to heavy, so they opt for the Honda EU2000i + EU2000i Companion. Each of these can be use seperately or paralled together. Individually, the EU200i's weigh about 46 lbs.

Okay, there are two different Honda 3000 generators and that is why there is a weight difference.

The Honda EU3000i Handi:
- AC output - 120V 3000W max.(25A) 2600W rated (21.7A)
- DC output - 12V, 100W (8A) (unregulated)
- db - 65 dB(A) @ rated load, 57 dB(A) @ 1/4 load
- weight - 78 lbs.
- start system - recoil

The Honda EU3000iS:
- AC output - 120V 3000W max.(25A) 2800W rated (23.3A)
- DC output - 12V, 144W (12A) (unregulated)
- db - 58 dB(A) @ rated load, 49 dB(A) @ 1/4 load
- weight - 131 lbs.
-start - recoil, electric
