R-27 on order, late December 2024 delivery
Hi all,
We've got an R27 on order and are looking forward to boating this spring. We are new to power boating (lots and lots of paddling experience).

Can you suggest any fun (or practical) gift ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Rose

Stabilized binoculars. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes.

Here's some things I love:
Toadfish no-tip wine glasses (stainless) and can holders.
Nautical couch pillows (the bench seating is hard on the back when laying out).
Ship's log (though I don't use mine)
Plus one on stabilized binoculars
Boating books, technical, stories, and fiction (not sure where you are but I've read most of the PNW books)
Or go to the Boat Galley Amazon page for lots more!

If you planning over night, or cooking aboard, a good propane BBQ, and 30 years ago we bought a set of nesting Stainless cookware (uses very little space), and is on its 3rd boat., also none breakable dishes, and flat ware. Items you need, that are dedicated to the boats galley rather than Rob from your home kitchen.

Oh, and custom boat jackets from LaZina (Marti's wife)

Yes and GCI freestyle Rocker chairs, folding for setting in Cockpit.

Rose, May I suggest anything that’s customized with the boat’s name.
Boat business cards, hats, jackets and t-shirts, a nice ships bell with name and christening date. Coffee mugs, pocket knives, the list is endless, what will make it special is the thought of getting it costomized! Merry Christmas bob

Propane? which one. Have not understood why Ranger has not made available an optional propane grill that fits where their electric grill sits above the fish hold/box at rear of an R27.

On our 2023 R27 we made a Starboard insert that replaces the Kenyon electric grill. We put a Magma grill on the insert and use a separate propane tank.

The baitwell is used as a trash lazerette. Both Kenyon and Magma grills are stored in the center cockpit locker. The spare tank goes in propane locker.

I put retaining strips on one side of the Starboard insert to support the panel when flipped over as a cover. The strips keep the legs of the Magma from sliding.

Worked like a charm last Summer.

Thank you all for the great ideas! We have the Magma nesting cookware in our RV and will absolutely get another set for the boat.

I've never heard of stabilized binoculars, I'll look into those for sure.

Fun. 🙂

Have a Mega with the rod and the insert option that goes into the pole holder mounted on the Starboard rear. Have out side and open the door and stand on the swim step to use. Do remove after use and store in box in the cave. Also have side curtins that need to be opened and out of the way of hot grille.

Stabilized binoculars are great. Depending on your boating style of who is on the boat with you, it might not be worth expensive binoculars. I am happy with $100 binoculars that don't need tender loving care.

I have never tried a suicide knob. I don't see the need for it. I have an inboard. May be different opinion if outboard, not sure.

It's America where we have freedom to like what we want. Many things somebody will love and others find useless. I listen to everybody and then make my own decisions.

So there is room in the propane hold for a third tank? and did U use a three way connector for the 3 tanks?
The trash lazerette is a great idea!!

Handheld VHF radio
Dustbuster mini vacuum

How about marriage savers?

Another vote for stabilized binoculars.

Anything floating. Floating flashlight, floating radio, dry bags, phone case, auto inflating life jackets, water proof deck of cards etc.

Yes, three 10# steel tanks fit easily. Two tanks are dedicated to the galley and we use the factory connector to use one tank at a time. While the BBQ tank is used only for that purpose, it does provide backup if needed.
