I recently bought a 2013 R29 used with only 100 hours.
It came from Port Boat House in Port Alberny on Vancouver Island
I do not have a service record.
Reading your service bulletins I see a recall on the heater hoses. I have checked them out and they look like the ones that need replacing because there is a braid pattern visible. The part number printed on the hose is only partially visible but the number showing beyond the clamp is ?2-0580. 5/8" which is neither the old or the new part number described in the Yanmar service bulletin.
I cannot get the engine registered on the Yanmar site because as other folk have noted it doesn't work. So have no way to know if this hose is safe or not.
If the original warranty has expired is this covered because it was a recall?
Would I be better to deal with the Ranger dealer at Port Boat House or see if the Local Yanmar dealer near the marina where I keep the boat.
I would appreciate your suggestions so that I can be sure that the proper hoses are installed.
Dave

Just a thought here. The service bulletin came out in 2011, your boat is a 2013. I would think that any engine or boat built after 2011 would not have the affected hose. I had to have the repair on my 2010, and although it was out of warranty at the time Yanmar did cover the repair.
Any authorized Yanmar dealer should be able to clarify if your boat is affected by the bulletin or not using the engine serial number.
Enjoy your new boat!

Hey there Dave,

Port Boat House used to be a Yanmar dealer but not sure if this is still the case. I have sent them a copy of your post so they will most likely reach out to you directly. Unfortunately, Yanmar always called these service bulletins instead of recalls which meant they did not have to address all engines affected and it was advised that the Yanmar dealers would check your serial number to make sure any outstanding bulletins were not present. If you have a strong print through pattern on the hoses coming off the engine, it's probable that you have the affected hoses. Whether or not they will consider doing this at no charge will ultimately be up to the dealer and Yanmar. You will also want to make sure you have the revised oil line and oil pressure sender and grounding addressed while you are at it. Be nice to take care of all bulletins with one stop.

Thank you,

Where would I go to see this bulletin?

Perhaps this may help you. Sorry no pictures.

THIS ADVISORY APPLIES TO: Construction Industrial Marine DATE: May 16, 2011 TO: All Marine Distributors and Dealers SUBJECT: Hose Design Change MODEL(S): All BY Series Engines
Yanmar America Corporation would like to inform all our Distributors and Dealers of a design change to the water heater hoses on the BY series engine. The following changes have been made to BY optional heater hose kit. The original hoses had a wall thickness of 3.5mm this has been increased to 4.5mm. There have been some concerns with the longevity of this hose so to increase the reliability of these parts Yanmar has changed the wall thickness of these three (3) hoses. If you find a failure in the field within the warranty period please replace them with the new hoses. Once the repairs have been completed, file a claim per normal warranty procedures.
When filing a warranty claim please use the following: Major Components/System: 003- COOLING SYSTEM Failed Part No. 120650-49850 Failure Description: 0022 LEAKS
Yanmar will pay two (2) hours to drain the cooling system, replace the two (2) hoses and refill the cooling system with new coolant.
If you have a customer that has concern of possible failure and is within the warranty period Yanmar will agree to replace the hoses at no cost to the customer under the above guidelines.
Note that the outside diameter has been changed so if you only change the hose a new larger hose clamp is needed. You will see a new part number for the clamp.
