Help me pick a boat name for a new Ranger Tug 27

I am also an airline pilot working on a name for a possible R27 purchase, my leading choice is:

Alternate Approach

Other ideas:
Mist Approach
PAPI (named after our dog who is named after PAPI lights hahaha)

I still think Sea Fit or CFIT. ( Yep that's me. on Lake Erie by Lorain OH. ~5000 hrs rotorcraft, ~2000 stuckwing, & Lt. General in the Conch Republic Air Force. Also sorry not sorry smirk )

For heavy iron guys I like "RETARD - RETARD" 😎
Not gonna go over big on the radio, though.

More seriously, I am willing to share mine LEVITATION
I have not seen another one.
Think about it.

Ya Freddy was a good friend. He's the one that made me a Lt General after I dumped about 50 rolls of toilet paper on the Coast Guard cutter in the great battle. I have a lot a great stories with him. I haven't seen Kelly since the funeral.04-08-07_1656.jpeglowone.jpegconch06ships.jpeg

Taking delivery of a new boat in a few weeks. I am an airline pilot and am trying to come up with an aviation related name. Here is a list, let me know what you think and if you have any other ones to add to the list.

Jet Lag
Knot on Call
Final Approach
Altitude Adjustment
Knot Flyin’
Crash Pad
Flying’ Low
Pilot Lounge
First Class
Flight Risk
Float Plane
Too Low Terrain
Scud Runner
Positive Space
Winging it

Thanks,
Scott

I’m a pilot too, with a new R27OB I have to name. I was going to reuse the name of my RV-8, “Good Sport”, but “Slow Flight” (posted by another) is so cool I might use that if you don’t want it!
On another thought, the transom area is small, I’m wondering about using some space on the sides, but don’t know where yet, and would like to hear any placement ideas that others like.

Much like aircraft N-number specifications, the Coast Guard has font size specs for both the name and home port. This is only really important if you register the boat with them. One advantage of doing that is that at least for the states I'm in ( NY,FL,OH) you don't need to put ugly registration numbers on the bow. I mention this because I too had to pick a name that would meet the font-specs and the available area on the port side of the transom.

BTW: I got into a fight with the FSDO over the tail numbers on my helicopter above when I had it painted. Originally they were on the Vstab and I wanted to keep them there but they said nope emphatically and I had to ugly up the side with them. I'm not into font fights anymore.

This is good to know! I had no idea there were size requirements for them name on documented boats!
