I'm in South Florida with my C28 always in the water.

Preparing for the hurricane is it better to leave shore power unplugged or it doesn't matter if power goes on and off?. Could any electrical component be potentially damaged?

I appreciate your comments.

Thanks!

This monster of a hurricane may track up the East Coast of FL after going over the Keys. Having your boat plugged in or not may be the least of your problems. I would leave it unplugged to protect from current surges, pack my bags and get out of Dodge.
Stay Safe all Tugnuts in FL., looks like its going to be a rough ride.

I'd leave shore power unplugged were it me; and git out of Dodge.

Here's a link of Boat U.S. Boat Hurricane Preparations.

Good luck to all in Florida and anywhere else in the path of this monster.

SC already declaring emergency.

Shore power off. There are different methods for securing the boat depending on floating docks, or fixed. Electric should be your last consideration. Do some research and secure your boat the appropriate way and remove your bimini. Hey the beauty of out boats is that they can be towed. I would remove it from the water and get it to high ground. I would then tie that sucker down using ground screw anchors.

Pour House is buttoned up and we are getting out of Dodge. Wish us luck.

To Our Florida Friends,

Good luck from the tugs on the Chesapeake!

Evacuations just ordered for Savannah, GA, and 30 Georgia counties added to emergency declaration.
Track still headed for landfall between Savannah and Hilton Head, continuing thru upstate SC.
All hotel rooms in metro Atlanta taken.
Atlanta Motor Speedway (NASCAR) opens for free camping for evacuees.
Horses arriving from all over for shelter too.
Contraflow to be started on I-16.

Let's all be safe out there....
