Subject: Ideas to avoid losing items out the port-side Nav window ?

I'm looking for ideas to avoid losing items out the port-side Nav window on my new 2018 R-27 w/F300 (R-27/OB)

The shelf surface directly in front of the port side Nav seat and behind the chrome grab bar is smooth and there's really little to stop items on this surface from sliding out toward port and out the window when opened.

On the R-27/OB prototype RT had installed a small teak strip on the port side edge of this shelf which presumably was to catch and avoid items from sliding off the shelf and out the open window. I'm told this teak strip is no longer being installed.

So, I'm left with having to devise a solution similar to what RT had come up with on their R-27/OB prototype.

I suspect a similar issue is present on the R-29S but to a lessor degree as the shelf is a different shape with the chrome grab bar sunk at the shelf's leading edge.

If you have a suggestion for this issue I claim for the new R-27/OB please post back. Thanks.... 🙂

Silar issue exists on the 23. I am planning on building a shelf with a small rim and rubber bottom. I'd also like something to hang from that grab bar and hold additional items.

Hmmmm.... I like the idea of a rubber backed tray with a small rim to contain items for the shelf area forward of the grab bar.

BTW.... I use Robship suction cup bags at several locations on my boat. Example here http://www.defender.com/product3.jsp?path=-1|619045|1970772&id=3248117. They have no fastens and have suction cups - No drilling, screwing or permanent fixing required.

I have the small one under the Nav seat's chrome grab bar. The suction caps really do hold securely as well.

Window screens?

Thanks... that will work under some circumstances 🙂 Yea.... but then my 9yr old grandson can't hang his head out the window when we go along at 38 mph, which he loves to do.
