Good Morning,

We would really appreciate information regarding the use of the Inverter on our new boat, a Cutwater 32. We have seen step by step directions for smaller boats with different systems. Would really like information and directions specific to our model.

Thank you so much for your assistance.

Jim

Jim,

what inverter do you have? Do you also have a genset? photos of your AC/DC Panels?

Definitely need more information. Some boats have a separate inverter and battery charger. Some have combined units. If you have separate units, make sure the battery charger is off when using the inverter.

Most of the Ranger Tugs have a rotary switch on the electrical panel. You use that to select between shore power, generator (if equipped), and inverter. A picture of the panel would help us determine how your boat is set up.

At a high level you use the inverter to take Direct Current battery power from your house bank and create Alternating Current that 120 volt AC appliances on your boat can use. Depending on your boat's setup you could possibly run a coffee pot, microwave, small appliances.

I would make sure the battery cross over switch is off when using the inverter so you don't run down the engine battery.

We have a good community here, others will add to the dialogue.

Hi Jim,

As others have mentioned, we'll need to know which inverter to be able to answer any questions. Also, you should have the printed manual for the inverter in your black document bag that came with the boat. If that fails, you can read the model information off the side of the inverter and find the manual on the manufacturer's website. Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers,

Ralf

I have tried to post pictures of our inverter etc but have not figured out how to do so. I can relay the following:

The inverter is a combo- Abso Inverter Charger. There is no switch on the panel. The display usually reads "FUL"
We have yet to figure out how to turn it off...as depressing the power button for 5 seconds does nothing.

I will continue to try to post pics. In the mean time, I hope this information is helpful.

Thanks!

Thanks to all who responded. It seems ours has an issue and will require further investigation.
