I have a switch on my panel, snuggled in between the horn and wiper switches that is labeled, "Docking Lights." I thought it might turn on something. I was wrong in that assumption. I guessed that there might be some wires hiding beneath the teak panel centered so carefully along the center ridge of the cabin roof that might be labeled Docking Lights; for an optional accessory that my boat is tragically missing. Removing the trim and opening the nicely bundled corn cob of wires, I found one pair of leads labeled Spot Light.
After careful examination of gyrating needles on my multi-meter, I have determined that the ceiling pair of wires labeled Spot Light are hot any time the house battery switch is on; no matter the position of the Docking Lights switch, snuggled in the aforementioned panel.
Two questions: Should there be a spotlight switch somewhere? And where are the Docking Lights wires going to after they disappear into the mass of wires below the panel switch? I could say that I am pulling my hair out over this quandary (because there is sparsely any left), but really I am just mildly annoyed at my own lack of skills in troubleshooting this problem.
Thanks for guidance, snark, or enlightenment that may be coming my way.
