How to change oil in the volvo d-260? It can't be done using the dip stick tube or the starboard vent tube. I see other folks asking the same question but no solutions given. Anyone figure this out?

Why can it NOT be done via the dip stick tube?

Just so happens that Coastal Marine Engines (Collin) is at my boat right now. Seems that on the D3 engine the dipstick tube narrows down to a hole about the size of your pupil of your eye. No way to suck the oil out through that hole. And that is where your suction tube stops...well above the bottom of the crankcase.

Fix is to drain the oil bit by bit sucking it out from a pan underneath engine. Collin mentioned something about drilling and putting a barbed fitting in the bottom of the oil breather tube and then using that to suck the oil out in the future. Too complicated for me to catch all he was saying.

Besides Collin said the D4 engines do not have this issue and you can suck the oil out through the dipstick tube as it allows your tube to go all the way to bottom of the crankcase. Your 260 is a D4 engine as my 300.

Hope I got all this right.

The D-4 dip stick tube is way too narrow to insert the pump tube, and getting under the engine is impossible. There must be a way.

On our Claire (2013 R29 volvo D4-260) there is a siphon hose hidden on the starboard side by the crank
Case filter. That is how I pump out the oil on changes!
