I've never found a good solution for getting my outboards raised out of the water. When using the tilt locks, both engines are submerged about 2 inches. Can the tilt limit be changed to raise engines (mine are Yamaha F300s) out of the water?

Hi there,

Unfortunately when fully up, the engine rams are at the end of their physical travel, so there is no additional way to adjust them upward. Sorry about that.

Cheers,

Ralf

Thanks Ralf. I've been dealing with this for many years, however, since they stopped selling paint that stays on the bottom of the outboards, it has become even more annoying. I know some folks go with hydraulic lifts, but, if it were up to me, they'd be banned in my harbor since they look awful.

For our 2916 Cutwater 24 my solution was to add 300 pounds of lead shot in 50-pound canvas bags in the chain locker. (https://www.leadwake.com/products/the-original-50lb-lead-wake-ballast-bag?variant=35497534480) I did this about four years ago. The added weight in the bow lifted the 300hp Yamaha (F300UCA) fully out of the water when it was in the "up" position and the fuel tank was less than half full. When the fuel tank was near full, the bottom of the motor was an inch or so in the water. Also I think that the boat now rides better in rough water, cutting through swells and wakes.

Good to hear that worked for you. It's a lot of lead and I'm thinking that with two 300 hp motors and 300 gallons of gas. I would really have to 'get the lead out'.

I'll probably just stick with using anti-fowling paint and trust in the galvanic isolator that I installed
