Are you attending the Rendezvous in Bremerton in September or thinking about it?
Friday's theme at the Rendezvous is about owners sharing ideas, lessons and information with each other in an open forum format. While Saturday's theme is workshops and presentations by vendors, on Friday we want to create opportunities on the dock, or in the conference room for topics that span a range of topics and attracts a wide span of interest.
The format is simple: 45 minutes for a topic, a volunteer facilitator starts the forum with a brief introduction or more and the participants take the conversation where they want to. There may be multiple topics happening at the same time with something for everyone. Informal, useful, and to-the-point is the intention.
This is the participation part of this thread: put you whims, wishes, contributions and ideas that you would like to see as a topic for this day of programming.
To spur your thinking, here are some ideas:
Velcro, snaps, and boxes; ideas of ways to use these for storage & fun
Baking on the BBQ; great food without an oven
Four knots (using rope) that every Ranger owner should master
Menu planning in 21-29 feet
Two weeks and two sacks of garbage, how is that possible?
Galley gear; what works and what gets left at home
Modifications that made my Ranger better
The best tools that I carry along
Living in the world of 12 volts
Internet and cell phone coverage: getting the biggest bang for the buck
45 minute presentations of great trips:
“Princess Louisa, Barkley Sound & the Broughton Islands”
“Sea of Cortez”
“Lake Powell”
“North of Cape Caution”
“South Sound”
“Favorite Puget Sound stops”
“Gulf Islands”
“Victoria, Sidney, and points north”
So, now add your wisdom and thoughts. We need facilitators for topics and this does NOT mean that you have to be a master public speaker or have a professional PowerPoint show. Rather, it means that you are willing to start a conversation with a group of great people who are interested.
What next? In a week or so, I will take all these ideas and craft a survey using an on-line tool and post it here. The results of the survey will point the way to go.
OK, now start posting ideas, whims, thoughts, gifts and needs.
