Boat is on a mooring and mooring pendant catches under anchor and generally rubs on anchor. I installed another pair of chocks forward on the bow as the position of the factory forward chocks means a 90 degree turn of the line to the mooring -- asking for chafe. I want to instead attach a line to bow eye with a shackle and then, with a clip on the free end, attach it to the mooring pendant. Question: is the bow eye attached strongly enough for this purpose? is there a backing plate for bow eye or at least fender washers?
