Ranger Tug 38

Very nice to hear about the 38 foot Ranger Tug. I sincerely hope that they supply it with a manual. I have been told several stories over the past year about why there is not a manual for the 2015 29S that I own. GOOD LUCK

I was told it would be under 200k fully loaded... I was also told my jeans don't make me look fat. HA!

Before the D Day invasion, the allies bolstered their tank, fighter planes and bomber inventory by filling fields with cardboard and inflatable likenesses.
Before anyone has to be taken away in an ambulance due to over excitement someone might want to actually touch this rather handsome vessel to see that it’s not a cardboard cutout or an elaborate cut and paste! Those don’t float. Governments leak information to throw people off track all the time!

While the Pods certainly are interesting, I would rather see a large, single, diesel inboard. Seems it would be easier to maintain a large, 380 hpish, single diesel engine. Also like the protection of the prop and rudder, rather than two engines dangling in skinny water. Wonder if there would be a large fly bridge as well?

My only concern about building bigger boats, is that a lot of other manufacturers do so at the expense of building smaller boats.

Ah, the Peter Principle applied to business?, "One tends to rise to his level of incompetence."

While I love my 31 Sedan, I would love to upgrade to the 38 footer. Else I'll have to go for a Swift Trawler!

Best,

The problem IMO with the swift is stability and engine access. On the 34 the engine access is difficult and the stability (CE certification) is not as good as the AT or NT.

We stopped by our broker this weekend and asked about the 38 (not our reason for visiting - just part of chatting). It looks like this boat won't be realized for another 2-3 years. Apparently the factory is too busy with the standard lines and doesn't have the bandwidth to take this on. The word is that the deposits have been returned to the folks on the waiting list. Ah well, we probably wouldn't trade up from our R29 CB for a few years anyway.

Please feel free to contact me directly and I will be happy to give you the real story. No deposits have been returned and the build will be in full force very soon!

Well, I have a deposit down, it's not been returned, and the factory appears to be on schedule!

If, in fact, it does have pod drives,do you think IPS 600's? (430 hp) 500's? I'd rather have a larger single with bow/stern thrusters and maybe a small wing engine. Looking forward to the details being released. I am hearing $600k range.

With the Seattle boat show now in full swing, I'm curious if there are any new intelligence leaks regarding the purportedly "in production" larger Ranger?

Peter: You're in the Seattle area, so why not take a sneak trip up to the Monroe RT factory and dress up as a worker and scout around for all of us ?

Don't tell anyone I shared this bit of info, but I have it on excellent authority that the new '38' is actually going to be a '41'-- and will be launching in time for the Roche Harbor Rendezvous. Also, it is being built in Arlington (not Monroe).
