Well, I had the Rule on my C-dory, which had no solar panel and I never had an issue with battery drain down. I will say my sensor has failed 4 times in 4 years as has many others that I know of. I wonder what is worse, a pump that works all the time and may kill your battery or a sensor that fails and results in a flooded engine compartment. I know of one owner who's sensor failed and they now have a new engine.
After reading this thread I may switch to a rule pump after the next failure, if it will fit.
