Run down house battery R21EC

Well, I had the Rule on my C-dory, which had no solar panel and I never had an issue with battery drain down. I will say my sensor has failed 4 times in 4 years as has many others that I know of. I wonder what is worse, a pump that works all the time and may kill your battery or a sensor that fails and results in a flooded engine compartment. I know of one owner who's sensor failed and they now have a new engine.
After reading this thread I may switch to a rule pump after the next failure, if it will fit.

I guess the most important thing to do is to keep the water on the outside of the boat. Then the bilge pump issue isn't a problem. Now, if only we COULD keep all the water on the outside of the boat. No, wait, I am. The Ranger is parked on the hard under a roof.

My vote is for a Rule pump with a separate float switch. I currently have this arrangement on our 21 classic. The pump is in a hard place to get at (under the fuel tank) but I am able to get a short stick under the float and check the float and pump operation. I also have the manual / auto selector switch. I have heard that the built in sensors can get crud on them and fail.
Regards Don
