Running lights

Hello
Did FM quit installing the red and green plexiglass backing for port and starboard running lights?
Ours (2021 C30S) came with out them. I like the look without better but wondering if the illumination will be adequate without?

Those lightboards help in the daytime as well.
I think they should be on the boat.
That being said, many power boats do not have them.
So me only have the combined light on the bow.
I like the looks of the light boards.

+1 We love the classic tug look and think the lightboards are yet another classy detail to enhance that. But admittedly it’s a matter of taste.

I think the Ranger Tugs still have them, but the Cutwaters don't.

Yes we recently stopped using the boards on the C30, without them the navigation lights will illuminate for all to see when coming directly at you at night. I believe this was due to supplies and since the C30s/C32s are the only current Cutwater to use them we decided to remove the boards, C28 has them but that boat is being retired and the new C288 will take its place. Hope this helps.

If you remove the boards, you have to change the lights as well so they still are compliant with USCG regulations. You should only see both red and green when directly in front of your boat.

MAY have to replace them. We have a 2008 R25 Classic and even though we have the boards the lights that were used are the type that would work stand alone. The only reason I noticed is because I considered getting rid of the boards after about the third time that I broke one doing various things on the cabin roof.

None of my other boats have ever had anything like them, but we have not been on the water yet when running lights are needed and were not sure.
Glad they are not necessary.
