Question for Factory on installation of the garmin temperature sensor thru hull installation, If I wanted to install this sensor what part of the hull is best for this hole to be located?
Mid ship Aft of Sea water intake?
And would the factory have suggestive data for that specific methodology IE, 5200, coosa board or built up fiber glass in the hull,
Any from a boat builder with extensive knowledge of this hull please detail and get back to me.

Hi there, David!

Since we don't install these ourselves, we pretty much try to abstain from making any "official" recommendations due to basic liability issues. ("...but you told me to put it there, and my boat sank!) Yes, an innocent quip but I think you can understand.

Having said that, it would all depend on the depth of the sensor (meaning: how thick of a layer of hull can it go through). The area close to the two pickups that are already in the main compartment might be a good choice, as you can see that we drilled through the hull there. But again, that depends on how you do it. (see disclaimer above)

Sorry that I can't be more specific, but I'm sure you understand. In the end, it is your boat and you can do with it as you see fit. The one question I would ask is why not install a transom mount sensor. The common wisdom of our age is that one should avoid as many holes below the water line as possible. So, if you have an alternative, it might be wiser to do that. Hope this helps a bit but let us know.

Cheers,

Ralf
