I have a 2010 R25 SC and our current solar panel is a 130 Watts panel with 15/75 Victron MPTT controller. Just wondering what the newer 25/27 models have as far as solar panel goes?

We can easily do 2-3 days on solar alone using lead-acid batteries. But with the added cell phone/tablets charging, I have assessed that 130 watts and lead-acid batteries are not sufficient.

Some might recommend going to lithium batteries, but in Canada, unless you use the boat for more than 6 months (combined between weekends and summer holidays), the cost is prohibitive.

So just wondering what the Factory is outfitting the new boats with solar panel, so that I can ball park what the upgraded panel should look like.

Cheers,

Off Watch, out.

My 2022 R-27 LE has a CMP21190PK solar panel and Kisae Abso DMT1250 DC-DC charger.

CMP does not show that part number on their website, but they do list the CMP27190P,
which appears to be very similar.

If you do change solar panels, you also need to be sure the maximum output voltage of the panel,
does not exceed the maximum allowed input voltage of the charge controller.

Thanks all for the great comments and suggestions.

I did have a look at the site in the US that RT now uses.

Because of taxes and duties, my tendency is to purchase items in Canada, as much as possible, so I'm still on the hunt for a great setup without breaking the bank. Since this will be a winter project and there will be the Vancouver International Boat Show on 1-5 Feb 23, I might just wait until the show to purchase the solar setup I want.

Cheers
