When I opened the Valve Assembly, the Joker Value was open and sitting in a bed of sludge. I was fairly confident that the valve was my problem since I was getting a slow flow of back wash from the black water tank. That would certainly be indicative of a one way valve that was stuck open. Prior to getting backwash, there was increased odor and the valve allows acts as an odor barrier.
I don't know if it really makes a difference if you have 90 degree or straight, but, it seemed to me that 90 degree, which I have, would have a greater chance of clogging. I know what made Toto toilets a standard many years back is that they maximized the diameter of the drain going straight downwards and, hence, were one of the very first low flow toilets that actually worked well.
