We took our r23 to Tofino BC. Stayed at Tofino resort and marina, showers coffee and ice were all included with mooreage, how often does that happen. what a great experience. The marina staff were so helpful, Colby the doc tender would see us coming in and would run too our slip to help doc the boat. We got there on Friday Aug 3rd late on the 4th we took the 10 minute walk to town. We picked up a few things at the grocery store and then stopped at the local tackle store. They let us know what was working and we bought 2 green and white coyote spoons. Got back to the boat and the resort guide stepped abouts and put a waypoint on our GPS on where to start trolling, he said follow the 100 ft line and set the downright at 70ft. After a 20 minute boat ride to the waypoint we started trolling and one of the downright popped off, a 4lb king salmon. We let him go and continued, not quite through the troll set the downright popped off again. This time the reel was screaming and line was peeling off the reel fast. I knew this was no small fish. This was the first time for Carol to net a fish and what a way to break her in. We eventually landed the 40 lb king. The next king in the boat was a little larger and the rest were 10 to 12 lb range. We caught our 4 kings 2 silvers and 2 sea bass and were back at the doc at 4:30 pm, not bad for not leaving till 10:30. We got our limits of kings with one more of the 25lb range and had lots of compliments on our r23 lots of people had never seen one and were surprised it was built in As. The r23 handled the ocean conditions well and was comfortable to fish out of.We are planning years trip already. The town was really nice, lots of stores restaurant's and things to do and see.
