Transducer problems on 2019 Cutwater 30

We have had ongoing problems with the transducer on our boat. Originally, the depth sounder would stop working and when checked, the anti freeze level would be low. Once filled, which is an arduous task, the sounder would work for awhile. We have been unable to locate parts such as the o-ring or screws and at this point, once filed with the anti freeze, the liquid drains completely out over night. We are not sure where this liquid is draining or why. We have been unable locate any information, diagrams or data for this unit. Is is not the display, it is the sending unit located in the hull.

Hi there,

The issue is most likely that the fluid is leaking out of the bottom of the cup itself. This can be relatively easily fixed. You can run either a bead of Sikaflex 291 (what we use) or 3M 2400 (if you can't find the Sikaflex) around the bottom inside edge of the cup. That should keep the fluid inside. Hopefully this helps get you started, but just let us know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks, we'll give that that try. Do you know where we can get parts (screws, o-ring) for the transducer? The only markings on the part indicate it is made by Garmin, but no other information, part numbers or any documentation in our boat docs.

Not sure which transducer you have, but a lot of the were made by Airmar. You might look them up and see if you can get more information. However, I don't think it's the seal and very likely not the screws. Once you have that bottom edge sealed, I think it will most likely solve the problem.
