What settings does the factory recommend for the Victron BMV-712 on an R25 with 600 AH of Dakota lithium batteries in order to obtain accurate readings of time remaining, percent consumed, etc.? Currently, the monitor is providing inaccurate readings and generally showing 100% charge at all times, and not providing information about time remaining.

Basic customizable settings are:
  • Battery Capacity:
  • Charged Voltage
  • Discharge Floor
  • Tail Current
  • Charged Detection Time
  • Peukert Exponent
  • Charge Efficiency Factor:
  • Current Threshold
  • Time to Go Averaging Period

It turned out that the reason I was getting strange readings on the monitor was that the shunt was installed backwards at the factory - charging read as discharging and vice versa.

If anyone is interested, here are the settings recommended by Dakota for 600 ah of their lithium batteries:

Battery Capacity: 600ah
Charged Voltage: 13.5v
Discharge Floor: 10%
Tail Current: 2.00%
Charged Detection Time: 3m
Peukert Exponent: 1.05
Charge Efficiency Factor: 99%
Current Threshold: 0.10A
Time to Go Averaging Period: 3m
