Wabasto heater issue

I am having issues with the wabasto heater on my c-288. When I first turn it on, everything on the controller looks fine, it turns on, you can set the temperature and turn it on to heat mode. Every thing seems great, then the heavy black smoke comes out of the port side exhaust. The heater does work for a bit, then you get an F02 error and it shuts down.

Couple of observations:

Smoke doesn’t stop until heater shuts down with the error
Smoke is very heavy and makes a spitting sound
Fuel gauge is over 3/4

This is a new boat, heater has never worked, and yes, I have contacted the dealer. But if there are ideas that I can try until the dealer can make it over to take a look at it, I am willing.

It sounds like the burn chamber might be dirty. They need to be run once a month for about 20 minutes. Also have you tried changing the Webasto fule filter?

Am trying to run the 20 min maintenance cycle, not sure where the fuel filter is, will have to poke around and find it

I had this happen only once when I accidently had a fender blocking the exhaust port. Lots of black smoke. I shut it down, waited an hour and it started back up.

The webasto fuel filter is in the black pump box under 4 screws, likely near the fuel tank mounted to a bulk.
