Waste pump out

I wanted to give a heads up on a recent problem we encountered while traveling on Kentucky Lake. We had stopped at a marina for fuel and a pump out. The problem was that their pump setup didn't have enough room to connect to the vessel's waste outlet on the back of our 2013 R25SC. The older R-25s have the outlet facing more out, while the newer 25SC have the outlet on top of the transom and some pumping setups can't clear the railing. Our attendant finally was able to use a flexible rubber nozzle that pressure fit into the opening while he held it by hand.... Not exactly ideal! As a solution, I purchased a cast 1-1/4" 45 degree elbow that threads into the waste port, allowing better access in case this happens again. I considered pvc, but thought it might break if stressed too much, and that just wouldn't be pretty! Has anyone else had this problem?

I made a fitting out of PVC with a 90 degree elbow and it works fine. I have to use it all the time at my home marina as their fitting will not fit under the rail. I also have a Sealand waste adapter onboard that has also saved the day at different marina's. Don't know why Ranger puts the waste in that location, this has been a complaint before.
If you travel this is a simple modification to make and will keep your boat happy.

The Sealand waste adapter is model 343503, 1 1/4", 11.5TPI
PVC is 1 1/4"

Thanks for the idea. I put one of these 90 degree adapters shown in a previous picture (thanks Brian) together last night. I picked up the fittings and pipe from Lowes the fitting itself came from Defender. Here is a list of what I used and the costs.

I ONLY USED ABOUT 4" OF PIPE BUT IT ONLY CAME IN 10' LENGTHS I HAVE A LOT LEFT OVER. THEN YOU NEED SOME PVC PIPE PRIMER AND THE PVC PIPE CEMENT. JUST MAKE SURE TO MARK THE PIECES THAT GET GLUED TOGETHER BEFORE GLUING.
I THINK YOU COULD GET AWAY WITH THREE INCHES OF PIPE TP KEEP IT A LOWER PROFILE. I DID NOT GLUE THE NOZALL FITTING ON SO YOU CAN STILL USE THAT BY ITSELF OR WITH YOUR NEW 90 DEGREE ADAPTER. THANKS FOR THE SHOW AND TELL

I purchased my PVC pipe at Menards last night and they sell the pipe in two foot lengths, if you do not want the extra 9.5 feet. I did not save much money because your 10 foot length was not much more expensive than my 2 foot length.

I really did look for a smaller length of pipe. We were in my wife's Mini Cooper. Good thing its a convertible or I would have had spring for a hacksaw.

I just picked up the components to build me one of these, including 2- 2" lengths of 1 1/4" pipe.....no charge for the pipe pieces. Nice to have a friendly, neighborhood hardware store.

With the extra glue build yourself a waste tank filter. This works great, I got two seasons out of the charcoal. Probably would have lasted longer but the tank backed up into the vent so I had to change out the charcoal recently. Here's the link to build it.

The adapter screws into the elbow, do not glue it in.

I just took delivery of my new R25 and just had exactly the same problem yesterday! When I picked up the boat last week I questioned the salesman about the location and he said " it will be no problem" but it was a problem. It is sure nice to be able to get on the forums and see a solution. I am now off to Fleet Farm to get the fittings. Thank you all so much.

Thanks to Brian and Scuffy - I made an adapter yesterday but used a 45 degree elbow thinking it would be a more convenient angle for mating the pumpout nozzle.

Yup, mine was with a 45 degree fitting without the black fitting that Brian B used.
The plain end of the 45 matches up nicely with the soft rubber end of the pump out device. Be careful to glue it up with so it is facing aft when screwed in place.

Resurrecting and old thread.

Made one of these adapters today based in the information in this thread.
Used a 4” length of ABS 1 1/4” pipe (11 TPI) and a 1 1/4” ABS 90 degree double female threaded elbow. Have the 1 5/8” NozAll pump out adapter from Home Depot. Total cost for everything was about $45.

Plan on using this on a two week trip down to Lake Powell later this month. I think having the 90 degree bend so that the pump out hose is parallel to the transom will make things easier.
