A couple months ago I noticed a some water inside the void behind the cockpit refrigerator and around the cutout which routes the inverter/charger cable down to the house batteries. Troubleshooting (with a hose) was inconclusive, but at the time, it appeared that rain runoff from the command bridge, flowed down the ladder/stairs and then through the cockpit fridge cut-out. I re-calked it. A couple weeks ago, we had five days of torrential rain. When we returned to the boat, after a short vacation, we discovered that the void (behind the cockpit fridge) was wet AND the galley countertop was badly damaged https://photos.app.goo.gl/bMyW6NAfHR63Pe1A7. It doesn’t seem likely that the ladder-tread fasteners alone could channel this much water to the interior and into the void behind the cockpit fridge. Also, water coming down from the CB pools on the forward edge of the lowest tread (picture: same link).
Before I demo anything, I’d like to hear the factory’s perspective.
OTHER QUESTIONS:
1. I suspect I may have to pull the ladder treads. Beside being screwed to the fiberglass base, are they glued as well? If so, any recommendations on how to release them without breaking the tread and/or the fiberglass base?
2. I will need to replace the countertop section on top of the interior fridge. As you can see in the linked picture, the current countertop has rotted, delaminated, and is stained beyond repair. Is one available? How much?
3. I would greatly appreciate recommendations, on how to proceed?
