We’ve had Our Journey for almost 5 full seasons now. We spend about 40 nights a year on the water plus a night or two a year at an interstate rest stop while trailering.
In thinking about all the different places we’ve cruised to, I wondered how many different places we’ve been to in Our Journey. The total turns out to be 72 unique locations. We have been to a bunch of favorite places, like tonight at Roche Harbor, many many times. That’s an average of 15 new-to-us marinas, mooring buoys or anchorages each year. With Canada closed these past two seasons it’s been more challenging to add to our list in 2020 and 2021.
I know a number of folks have taken their Tugs to Alaska and done the Great Loop in them. I assume they have visited many, many unique locations.
I am curious if our travels are typical. So, how many new-to-you places a year to you spend at least one night enjoying?

I bought a trailerable boat to trailer it places. We do. Last year, we went to three new places. So far this year, one. Hopefully that count will go up.

We cruised over 9,000 nautical miles on our boat. We did the PNW and the Bahamas. The PNW is a beautiful spot. Originally we were going to do Alaska, but realized we would miss so much staying so we opted to do the entire Puget Sound and north to Desolation sound. It was a magical experience. If one likes US history the other memorable trip was from Chesapeake bay to Savanah, GA. Many times we were on the boat 3 months while cruising and at one time a six month stint. Every place had its uniqueness. Ten years of cruising and a wonderful Ranger/Cutwater community had to be the best ten years of boating.

Winter 2019-2020 we cruised from Wilmington, NC to Tarpon Springs, FL via the Keys and Lake Okechobee . 2020-2021 we took a COVID break. 2021-2022 we will cruise from Wilmington, NC to Marathon, FL and take a slip from mid-Nov thru mid-Mar.

Every stop on our Inside Passage trip going north was new and unique to us. Did a few repeat visits on the way back Probably 50 unique stops in one trip! 😀
