What is best replacement for 2013 c28 electric actuator for hatch

It’s my understanding that most or all of the cockpit engine hatch lifts used in the C-28’s are hydraulic. The hydraulic pump used is electric powered of course but the arm itself uses the same hydraulic fluid reservoir as used by the trim tabs. At least that’s what’s used in my 2017 C-28.
They no longer make affordable replacement hydraulic units. At least none that I could find. Arguably the best replacement solution is an all electric linear actuator. If you find one that works, please post the specifics and install process for the rest of us C-28 owners.

Yes thanks for the info….

about 5 years ago La Conner Maritime replaced my hydraulic ram with a replacement - alas is shorter and the hatch doesnt open as far but it works for regular startup checks. for major services I just unbolt it and tie the hatch to the stern rail so it doesnt fall on me. I wonder if they still have access to the part I have?

I pulled the bracket pin on mine. I find it easier and quicker to just pull the hatch up and lean it against the stern seat. It gives you a little more room to work that way also. The hatch bracket on my boat isn't really aligned correctly and operating it was actually stressing the hinge mountings, to the point that the screw holes were beginning to crack. I did a little patching with epoxy and everything seems ok now. Plus. if the batteries go dead I can still open the hatch (mine is electric.)

I been trying to get the hydraulic one repaired but very difficult. For now will stick with manual thanks for all the good tips….

P.S. I forgot to mention that the bottom edge of the bracket was actually making contact with one of the engine hoses causing some abrasion. I had to grind it down to get it to clear completley.
