Hi,

We purchased our boat in May of this year. It has been in our private slip since. It has been plugged in much of the time. Last week we had an emergency pull out because the AC thru hull failed. (another story). When the boat was hauled, we noticed the zincs on base of outboards and large zinc on stern were all but eaten away. After having boats since the early '90s, I know this is NOT normal. Have you all identified causes for this? Do I need to contact Yamaha as well?
Our floating dock is new (as of this spring) and we do have a galvanic isolator ( assuming it is functioning as it should).
We are feeling this is a warranty issue...Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

The galvanic isolator main purpose it to protect your anodes from being used up by other boats tied in the marina. When a boat is plugged into shore power the grounds are connected via the shore power ground. The fact hat you are in your home private dock assuming it has its own shore power source that no other boats are plugged into your shore power source. The galvanic isolator is not the problem. I would have an electrician check your dock power source. Not a residential electrician and certified marine electrician. The marine electrician will be well versed in inspecting the boat electrical and shore power electrical. He will also be able to test for Galvanic corrosion or stray current corrosion. Once you have done this and determine that the issue is not caused from your dock or electrical wiring to your dock then it would be the right time to contact Fluid Motion and Yamaha.
