A Northwest Ranger Rendezvous?

So, if I follow the thread correctly, it is Bremerton is mid-September, right?? This Californian needs to know, because I have to tow my R-25 a ways to make it.

Bluebayou,
Not a clue is towing his from Auburn. My wife and I will be towing Solitude from Las Vegas. Right now, the plan is Bremerton Sept. 11th, 12th, and the 13th.

Not a clue and crew are catching up with Solitude in Redding on the 5th of September. We will be staying in Bremerton all week. At the end of the rendezvous, we are headed north toward the San Juans. You and your crew are welcome to join (as is anyone else).

We will spend two weeks cruising the PNW.

We will launch in Port Orchard and then take the tow vehicles to Anacortes and leave them for the three weeks we are on the boats.

You can also hook up with us in Redding if you would like. (this is Labor Day weekend)

Thanks,
David

David on Solitude,
Thanks for the confirmation of the dates, and the heads up about the "Redding Rendezvous." I will tentatively plan to join you in Redding..., if I'm not already in the Pacific Northwest by then. My current thinking is to spend the summer months in Puget Sound and northwards, but life keeps throwing those curve balls......
Dwight Eisenhower, famously, when asked about The Plan for the invasion of Fortress Europe, which we now call the Normandy Invasion, said something like " oh, the plan itself is not that important, but planning is everything." In other words, conditions change, people change, and a commander, or captain, has to keep on planning and adapting to new situations.
So, count me in for Bremerton, and I'll keep in mind Redding on Sept. 5.
THANKS,
Charles

Charles,
See, that is what it is all about! You retired folk's that get to spend the whole summer in the PNW cruising around. The rest of us continue to work to support the Social Security system to keep those checks coming! The first week that I am in Bremerton, I will actually be working....... at least that is what I have told the boss...... Then it is off for two weeks of cruising!

So far it appears that there are four R-25's that are definitely planning on being there (two coming from Calif. one from Nevada, one from the PNW).

Jeff had mentioned in an earlier thread that he would be involved in setting this up. Sorry, I think that is wrong..... As Ranger Tug owners, we should be inviting all of the great people at Ranger Tugs to come join us. I have only owned one other boat that the manufacturer has taken as much interest in the owners as has Jeff, John, Andrew and all the others at Ranger Tugs. Jeff, we should be inviting you and your entire gang to be our guests! I have personally met all of these folks at Ranger Tugs but I know that many folks have not. This would be a great time for them to meet you and the gang. Don't get me wrong, your input would be accepted as well as any others, I just would not think of imposing on you and your crew.

My vision of this is a celebration of a great boat and a great group of people that have made a very expensive purchase. I envision a cruise on Saturday up to Poulsbo. Can you not see it in your mind, 15 to 20 Ranger Tugs in a line coming into Poulsbo! That would turn heads. Spend the day wandering around Poulsbo and then back to Bremerton for a BBQ and a cool refreshment! Those attending without their vessel could certainly crew on one of the other boats. We have room on Solitude.

Those are my thoughts. If you disagree, say so. Please though, don't throw rocks. I have been known to throw them back. (Sorry Denny)

Solitude

This is sounding better and better all the time. Vicki and I are putting it on our calendar. We're in.

Cheers.

Tentatively count the "Laurie Ann" in too. Although we are keeping our options open for the "plan" for September. If we are still in the PNW, we will be there. Sounds like fun and the side trip to Poulsbo will be great!

Laurie and John

John and Laurie,
I saw your baby today! I stopped into the Ranger Factory to pick up another of the opening hatches for Solitude and there she was! She looked great.

I noticed that you have no bottom paint (neither do we since most of our cruising is in fresh water and we trailer). What is the longest time period you have had the Laurie Ann in the water? Were there any problem with barnacles? We had our Catalina in the water for a week in Florida and the bottom was covered! And that was with a fresh coat of bottom paint. Bad paint obviously......

We are planning to have Solitude in the sound for three weeks with no bottom paint.

Thanks,
David

Yes, David, the Laurie Ann is back at the "womb" for some work that the experts are really good at.

The Laurie Ann was in the water for 63 days at one time but that was fresh water at the Mississippi and Tennessee Rivers and Mobile Bay at the Gulf of Mexico. We we pulled her, the bottom did not have sea life but a lot of caked on river scum. The pressure washer and a 60 minute scrub job took it all off. We have her in the Puget Sound for about a week with nothing on her hull except dried salt.

I had bottom paint on my two marina boats and had to pull them once a year for a pressure washing and new coat of paint. I do not miss those days.

Bottom paint: Some bottom paints do not work well if the boat is kept out of the water; they need to be immersed to retain their antifouling properties. The only bottom paint that I found to work as well when not immersed as when it was had a name ending in 990, it might have been KL990. Haven't seen it around for years.

I don't paint the bottoms of boats I keep on a trailer. A good pressure washing and sometimes a scrubbing keeps them clean.

I have spoken with the Bremerton City Marina. The overnight moorage fee would be $20.00 per night per vessel. This would include electric and water service. If you should choose not to use electric, the fee drops to $15.50 per night. This would be a side tie on the pier. If you should choose to use a slip, the fee jumps to $26.00 per night plus $4.50 for electric service.

They have a tent out on the pier that we can use along with a BBQ along with picnic tables. There are complete shore side facility including bathrooms and showers.

I have book a reservation for ten vessels at this time. We can add or subtract from this number.

David

Do you plan a deadline for signing up? Or will last-day arrivals be welcome? Norb

Norb,
We would welcome everyone. The marina spokeswoman said they prefer to know exactly how many boats are coming in but that they always make room.

Right now it looks like we have five vessels.
David

I like the idea, since I am in port orchard most locations work well for me. As far as a date anytime this summer the week following the 4th of july would be great.

I am interested most any place in the North west if it fits my schedule. bob baynham

The dates for the NW rendezvous at Bremerton are Sept 11 through Sept 13. As per the earlier post we currently have ten spots reserved with the marina with three boats confirmed. The marina will accomodate additional space if needed.

Bremerton September Odd Duck will be there, what do I need to do to actualy sign up.

David & Maureen:

In reading the "thread" I think I found 8 boats planning on attending. Would you post a list periodically of those that are coming. "Lobo" is coming from Victoria.

Dave Trace
"Lobo"

All,
I will go ahead and put together the list of boats that are planning to attend. I will update and post it monthly. Once we exceed the 10 boats that we have space for, I will add an additional five spaces at a time.

I will not be able to update until next week as I will be spending the next four days moving..... any volunteers to come to Vegas and help? It will be soooooooo much fun.....

Okay, Sitting at the airport had a minute to go through the trend. Below are the folks that have expressed interest. If you do not see your name and are planning to attend, please let me know. If you are listed and are not planning to attend, please let me know.

Currently there are 11 vessels that have said they are either attending or are considering.

I have listed crew names as I saw them on the tread. If these are not correct, please let me know.
