Finished the C-288 upgrade on 'Junie Bird'. Kept the factory 160W panel, added two Renogy 320W panels. The new panels have separate Victron 100/30 MPPT Smart controllers. One MPPT directly charges the Dakota 560Ah house bank, the other a new Eco-Worthy 314Ah Li battery. The new battery is isolated from the system with a Victron 12/12-80 Battery Diode combiner. Looking forward to more reliable power while on the hook...

That's very nice, and a lot of square footage! Did you raise the center panel a bit from the original location?

No, the center panel is in the original location. The cross bars, original, have a curve to them and the Renogy panels may be a little bit shallower. The goal was to adequately charge the house batteries while slow-cruising with the A/Cs running.. Success!
 
Excellent. I'm glad it worked out. Wonder if this will stimulate the imagination of some fellow 288 owners here. 😀
