PNW 2011 Ranger Rendezvous - single topic

Bob: You need to change your City location to Anacortes. 😉

Laurie could not attend, but this group met to discuss plans for the upcoming Ranger Rendezvous. So far we are up to 41 boats plus the factory boats. Promises to be an impressive gathering.

I attended the one of the largest food shows in the US this past weekend. I was able to secure the food for the Saturday night dinner as long as the planning commitee is okay with this. Please let me know.

Great David, I will let the others chime in on this, as we had quite a discussion about food. The main thing was logistics. How do we store the food and keep it cold until Saturday dinner.

My wife, Marie, and I are planning to move our tug, John's Folly, from the Columbia River to Puget Sound at the end of August for a couple weeks. We are planning to attend the Rendezvous as part of our stay up there. We look forward to meeting other tug owners and hope to have a chance to cruise the sound with some of you.

Herb,
Maureen and I will take care of a room at the Hampton Inn in which we store the food. It will all be shipped in frozen on dry ice with a delivery on Friday. It will remain frozen until we break it out on Saturday afternoon. This is what we have done in the past.

Since Maureen and I have worked in the food industry for the last 30+ years, we are fully aware of maintaining the proper temperatures to insure food safety.

We are thinking of the same items we have done the last two years, Pulled Beef, Chicken, and Pork with an assortment of salads and Cheesecake for desert. The only item that will need to be purchased are buns.

I will need to know in the next week or two if I should go ahead and start the process of ordering the food. Since it will be coming direct from the manufactures, they like plenty of advance notice. Ecspecially when you are giving specific delivery days.

David

John and Marie of John's Folly - I've added you to the list of boaters attending the Ranger Rendezvous. It will be a great fun and we're glad you're helping to represent the Oregon Ranger Tug boat owners. Who else from Oregon wants to join in?

Laurie

Once again we are going to have a craft fair at the rendezvous. This will either take place Friday or Saturday or ? Once we get closer to the event, we will have more details as to location, time, etc.

If you are planning on participating, please send me a private email so I can add you to the list. 🙂

Sounds like a great plan David, What do you say Laurie?, John?, Bob?, Craig? Let us let David know whether to place to order for food or not. Thanks

To Bob and Nita,

My wife Dil and I are planning to attend the Rendezvous. What are the fees? How do we register, etc. Planning to arrive Thursday Sep. 8th. We would like a room at the Hampton Inn for three nights. Do we make reservations on our own or do you folks handle that? We will be bringing "Hercules" our mighty R-21 from San Mateo, CA. (formerly Herb and Wilma Stark's "Willie's Tug"). Not much we can do to help out from here now but we'll gladly give you a hand once we arrive.

Thanks,

Bob and Dildar Pisani

We're signing papers on our boat today, so I guess it's safe to say we'll be at the rendezvous...thought we should have a boat first....!

Please add Dave and JoAnn Leibman to the list. Cutwater 28, "Seoul Survivor II"

Looking forward to it!

I just mentioned to Carol that it might be fun to come out west for your rendezvous and the next thing I know she's booked the flights! So count in the Whittiers, unfortunately without Claret Tug. We'll contact the Hampton Inn if there are still rooms available. Let us know what we can contribute.

Ted

This is soooooooo exciting to have Ranger Tugs and Cutwater boats attending the rendezvous! The momentum is building for a fun and exciting event.

As promised, here is an update on the Hampton Inn. David Baker, of Karma, has secured 16 rooms at the Hampton Inn for $78 a night through his company. David's price is way better than our $109 a night, so we have gone ahead and cancelled the rooms we have reserved. Now if you need a room at the Hampton Inn for the rendezvous, please send David Baker a private message stating the dates you need them for and he will apply your name to a room. The week of the rendezvous you will need to contact the hotel with your credit card information. Any rooms left over on Thursday night (Sept. 8) will be cancelled.

I couldn't agree more with Bob and Nita . . . we now have Cutwater boats coming and even boat owners from the state of Maine! Wow . . .

Bob & Dil - you are added to the list. Are you clear on what to do to secure a reservation from the Hampton Inn? See the above posting. You are bringing Hercules but will stay at the hotel.

Dave & JoAnn - Yeah, you not only have a new boat but a group of boaters to cruise with. Welcome to the Ranger Tug family! Be prepared for many boaters to want to see your new Seoul Survivor II.

Ted & Carol - You can't bring your boat, Claret Tug, but you will be right at home with all the other tug owners. I am excited you decided to join the fun! At this point, you could be the ones coming the farthest to the PNW Ranger Rendezvous and that "might" mean a prize.

So. . . . (drum roll) - we now have 45 boats attending the rendezvous. I bet we can make it to 50!

Laurie

Two more boats are coming to PNW Ranger Rendezvous.

Rich and Cheryll from Michigan, owners of a new-to-them LE (limited edition) 25 will be here. But they will be coming in a 36 foot sailboat loaned by a local family member.

Tim and Ann - will also be coming in their Ranger 29.

So again. . . . drum roll - we now have 47 boats! Watch this forum for more information after the committee meets in Poulsbo on July 2. Any Ranger tug owners that are going to be there that weekend are welcome to join us. The more people, the more great ideas!

Laurie

Hi Guys and Gals,
This is looking like the best Rendezvous ever. We have decided to have a "Coffee Crawl" so that the participants will walk around and meet other owners. I am asking if anyone has a large coffee maker who would be willing to participate and make coffee on the docks for two mornings (Saturday and Sunday). Nita and I have a thirty cup coffee maker and will be offering free coffee to all those who like hot coffee in the mornings . We envision that those participating would make the offering at various times to keep the large crowd moving around. If you would be interested, let us know and we will work the schedule out.
Bob and Nita

I am happy to report a few of the upcoming events we will have for your 2011 Ranger Rendezvous the second weekend in September at the Bremerton Marina:

1. First of all, some of you may have read some of the writings of Jim and Lisa Favors, who are perhaps the most knowledgable folks there are about traveling the 6,000-mile Great American Loop. The Favors will be making another trek around the Loop soon, but this time it will be in their new R-27 Ranger Tug. They pick up their new boat in early September and will attend the Rendezvous. They have also agreed to give a "Big Picture" presentation of The Loop, along with some highlights. So if you have any interest in traveling The Loop or parts of it, that will be something you won't want to miss. (By the way, Jim has already joined tugnuts and posted here a time or two.)

2. Many Ranger Tug owners in the Puget Sound area have used MER to service your Yanmar Engines. MER will attend the Rendezvous and says it will provide a discount on services and supplies to attendees.

3. Garmin representatives will also attend the Rendezvous. At the very least, they will be providing free software upgrades to your Garmin chartplotters. They may also be showing off their 2012 product lineup, though that isn't certain just yet.

If you haven't yet signed up for the Rendezvous, please do so here. We're fast-approaching 50 boats, so let's keep shooting for at least 60!!!. Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to seeing as many of you as I can in September.

John, aka Johnniethek of the Red Ranger.

We will bring a 40 cup coffee maker! This sounds like a fun activity!!

Just a reminder,
We are asking if anyone with a 30 cup or larger coffee maker would like to participate in the coffee crawl we need about six or seven to participate. The coffee will be donated and you will probably need to make one pot a day for two days at a time that is comfortable for you. Please let me know.

Another opportunity to help out at the Rendezvous:

We need some "BBQ Chefs" that would be willing to take a turn at grilling burgers, brauts, and veggie burgers at the Saturday evening dinner. Let me know if this is a skill you have and would be willing to take a shift.
